Right opposite the Byzantine church in the old village of Roda you will find one of north Corfu’s best-known restaurants. Maggie’s Place, Bistro & Fish Diner is a haven for lovers of good, wholesome food and lots of it. Styled on a continental bistro, a small restaurant serving sensibly priced simple meals in a modest setting, Maggie’s does all of that and more. Being a Bistro, Maggie’s Place has a full bar list and is the only establishment in Roda to offer Westons’ Stowford Press draught cider. A refreshing drink at any time, it is also suitable to accompany a meal instead of wine.
Having set the standards for the English breakfasts for the last twenty odd years, Maggie’s is now reinforcing its bistro/brasserie style image, and will now open at 1:30 in the afternoon until late at night.
To enable their customers to stretch their money a little further this year, Maggie’s, in true bistro style, is expanding the range of homemade food at affordable prices. The emphasis will be on daily specials, prepared from fresh local and seasonal products, so look out for the menu board, every day to see what’s on offer. Many of the old favourites will still be available.
If it’s a little afternoon tea that you are looking for then check out the range of home-made pies, mousses & cakes that Maggie makes freshly every day; just the thing to fill a little gap before a sumptuous evening meal.
Evening at Maggie’s Place is a time for more serious appetites. The true taste of traditional cooking is captured in a range of home-made dishes to bring fresh food and familiar flavours straight to your table. Country classics like casseroles & roasts, grills & bakes, pies & puddings – they are all here for your complete indulgence. That is not to forget Maggie’s signature dish, fish & chips, the likes of which you have never tasted before! It is served in three sizes, and you could be excused for thinking that the small one is actually the biggest. The large serving needs to be seen to be believed – the plate only just fits on the table!
Maggie’s is re-introducing its popular programme of late night entertainment, so when dinner is over, stay longer and enjoy the atmosphere of good company to round off another perfect day in Roda!
